Victory Bancorp and The Victory Bank

Joseph W. Major, bank leader, chairman, and chief executive officer of The Victory Bank, has been elected chair of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association (PA Bankers). As chair, Major will lead Pennsylvania’s largest banking trade association. 

In this new position, he will have oversight of the board’s policies and procedures and lead the strategic direction of the association, as well as its Personnel and Audit Budget and Finance Committees.

Major will conclude his term as first vice-chair with the association on June 30 and will begin his one-year term as chair on July 1, 2017.

Joseph W. Major is the Bank Leader, the Chairman of the Board, and CEO of The Victory Bank and of Victory Bancorp. Joe previously served as the President and CEO of Vartan National Bank and Patriot Bank Corp. He formerly served as a director of The First National Bank of Liverpool and a director of ETA, a bank data processing service bureau located in central Pennsylvania. In the past, Major also served as a director of the PA Banker’s Advanced School of Banking and currently teaches at both the School of Banking and the Advanced School of Banking. Major currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Pottstown Cluster. In addition to his undergraduate degree in business, Major holds a JD from the University of Akron and is an honor’s graduate of the ABA’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking (98), where he currently serves as a Capstone Advisor to members of the third-year class.

Major was elected chair at the association’s annual meeting on May 11.

The Pennsylvania Bankers Association, located in Harrisburg, is the state’s leading banking trade association representing an expansive and diverse membership. The association offers extensive continuing education programs, government relations representation on behalf of the industry, and provides numerous products and services for banks and their employees.
